How Can a Building Be a Better School?

  1. You have done very well defining what is "better", both through research and precedent study. Now, in order to thoroughly understand what it is to make your topic into a thesis I think you should define and study the problem... or the antithesis. Then identify the characteristics that cause those projects to fail so you can better understand what it means for your project to succeed.

  2. ps. The best examples of attempting to teach creativity are those found in architectural education... At least that I can think of...

  3. I visited the Orestad school this summer while I was in Scandinavia. It's a truly joyful space to be in. There's lots of light and the large staircase in the center creates a sense of soaring grandeur without being too overblown. Although we weren't able to speak to any students, I hear it's a very competitive school and quite successful in terms of design positively influencing learning. I would be happy to share pictures and thoughts with you sometime.
